Before Treatment:
Inform your provider if you have a history of facial and/or nasal herpes to receive advice on antiviral therapy prior to treatment.
7 DAYS BEFORE treatment: Avoid chemical peel, waxing, electrolysis, Laser treatments, or threading within 7 days before and after this treatment. ·
5 DAY S BEFORE treatment: Do not receive injections of Botox, Collagen, Juvederm, Restylane, Perlane, or other injectibles.
3 DAYS BEFORE treatment: Avoid topical products such as Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinols, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, Alpha Hydroxy Acid, Salicylic Acid, or other “anti-aging”, “acne”, and “bleaching” products. Also AVOID waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or the use of hair removal cream on the area to be treated. · Avoid excessive sun exposure and wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily of SPF 30 or higher (i.e., EltaMD®). Day of Treatment:
Please arrive to the office with a “clean face”. Please do not wear makeup, if possible.
Immediately After Treatment:
It is normal for skin to appear red and inflamed. Light scabs may form in the treated area and remain for 24 to 48 hours.
Discontinue use of all topical products for 72 hours following treatment.
Use a gentle moisturizer as needed (i.e., Avene® Ciclafate Post Procedure Skin Recovery Lotion).
Cleanse skin with a mild cleanser (i.e., CeraVe® Foaming Facial Cleanser).
Do not use heavy makeup for the first day.

Most people need 3-5 months, which consists of a full series of 3-5 treatments about 1 month apart. Any source of light can active herpetic lesions. lf you have a history of viral sores, please inform our staff so we who may prescribe antiviral medication. You may have an outbreak even if you have no history of viral lesions.
Individuals who have used Accutane within the past six months or who used any medications requiring limited exposure to sunlight are not good candidates for IPL procedure. Individuals with recently tanned skin are advised to delay undergoing the IPL procedure. Those with very dark skin types may be deemed a non candidate.
Following your treatment, there may be a minor degree of redness and puffiness to the skin, with some tingling discomfort that usually disappears in 1-2 hours. You may apply makeup immediately after treatment and return to work or regular activities. It is highly recommended that you begin a comprehensive skin care program to optimize the cosmetic improvements you obtain with your photo facial. Avoid sun exposure, tanning booths, spray tan, and wear sun screen on a daily basis. Apply ice, aloe vera, and topical OTC cortisone if you feel heat or swelling in the treated area. Reschedule if you are tanned either from sun/tanning booths or sprayed tan or had sun exposure. Post treatment expectation: You can expect the “spots” to get darker, by 1-2 shades. Also, small “specks” will appear over the treated area that will fall off within a few days. Do not pick; however, apply a generous dose of moisturizer to keep your skin moisturized. You must use sun block, exfoliant, and Vitamin C for protection and repair from the effects of sun damage and post inflammatory response. Also, Retin A, hydroquinone, Obagi Nuderm, chemical peels, and microdermabrasion might need to be added for skin exfoliation and rejuvenation to complement the laser treatment.
