What is Botox? Botox® Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium, which reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those frown lines between the brows to form over time.

How does it work? How does it work? What are the differences between Juvéderm®, Restylane®, and other fillers?

What is Micro-Penning?

How does it work?

How is the treatment performed?

A sterile cartridge tip containing 12 points is attached to the Eclipse MicroPen®. Our medical staff will apply a thin layer of numbing cream to your skin to alleviate any discomfort. We will then select the appropriate pen setting based on your unique needs, and in a single motion, will press the pen gently against the skin while simultaneously gliding in one direction until the entire treatment area has been covered. The process lasts approximately 30-60 minutes depending on the size and severity of the areas treated

What does it feel like?

With the topical gel, patients feel very little to no discomfort. The sensation is sometimes described as a light vibration across the skin.

Is there any downtime?

Since we’re creating a controlled wound, there will be a redness post treatment. This “mild sunburn” only lasts 24—48 hours, and many patients return to normal activities in a day or two.

When will I see results and how long do they last?

Normally patients see a benefit, or “glow”, immediately post-treatment but the maximum benefits won’t appear until the skin has had time to repair (approximately 6 months). The results last approximately 24 months once skin has healed.

How many treatments are needed?

For most patients, we recommend a series of 3 treatments spaced 6-8 weeks apart. Some patients only require a single treatment to achieve optimal results. For patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photo–aging, stretch marks or acne scars, we may recommend 6–8 sessions.

Radiofrequency microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that uses tiny needles and radiofrequency waves to rejuvenate facial skin.

This treatment is a form of controlled skin injury. The damage stimulates the growth of healthy new skin, which can benefit common skin issues such as, acne scars and wrinkles.

Radiofrequency microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment compared to other treatments like chemical peels and dermabrasion.

What is radiofrequency microneedling?

Microneedling is a treatment that uses fine needles to create microwounds, or channels, in the skin, which triggers the production of capillaries,  elastin, and collagen. It’s also called skin needling or collagen induction therapy.

Who’s an Ideal Candidate for Radiofrequency Microneedling?

Radiofrequency microneedling is considered safe, but it isn’t appropriate for everyone

You may be a good candidate if you:

  • Are in good health
  • Show early signs of aging
  • Have realistic expectations
However, you should avoid the treatment if you:
  • Currently or recently used Accutane
  • Have an active cold sore breakout
  • Have a skin infection
  • Have a moderate to severe skin disease (like psoriasis)
  • Are pregnant
  • Are taking anticoagulants
  • Have a history of keloids, hypertrophic scarring, or poor wound healing

What is the radiofrequency microneedling procedure like?

If you are interested in radiofrequency microneedling, you will need to meet with a  cosmetic surgeon.

Prior To The Procedure

At your consult appointment, your provider will go over your medical history and expectations with you. They may also take photos of your face to determine the best treatment for your skin type/condition. You will also be provided with instructions on how to prepare for the procedure.

If you have active acne breakouts, you may be asked to take oral antibiotics to help clear up the breakout prior to the procedure. Likewise, If you have a history of cold sores, you might need to take oral antiviral medication.

During The Procedure

Your actual procedure will take place in your healthcare provider’s office. Generally, what you can expect is :
  • The skin will be cleaned with alcohol to prevent infection.
  • Then a topical anesthetic will be applied to the treatment area about 1 hour before the procedure. In some cases, a local anesthetic may be administered instead. The anesthetic numbs the area so you won’t feel pain.
  • The microneedling device makes tiny wounds in the skin. Simultaneously, the tip of the needle releases radiofrequency waves into the wounds.
  • The procedure takes approximately 10 to 20 minutes, depending on what area you’re treating.
  • At the end of the procedure a growth solution will be applied to help support cell regeneration. They finish with a soothing solution to minimize any discomfort.
  • After the procedure us complete, You can go home after the treatment and return to your normal activities.

What is the best post-radiofrequency microneedling care of your skin ?

After your procedure, your doctor will discuss the aftercare for your skin with you. This will include the following tips:
  • Apply ice packs to reduce swelling and discomfort.
  • Wear SPF for several weeks after your treatment. Your skin will be extra sensitive to the sun during this time.
  • Use antibiotic creams or emollients if your doctor prescribed them.
  • Use a gentle cleanser after your treatment.
  • Avoid wearing makeup until the next day. You can return to your normal makeup and skin care routine after 24 hours.

When to expect results

You will start to see results after 3 to 6 months. The exact time frame depends on the type and severity of your condition.

In most cases, it is recommended to have at least four sessions, depending on what you are treating. For example, if you have moderate acne scars, you will need about three or four treatments. However, bigger more prominent scars might need five treatments.

Sessions are done every 3 to 8 weeks. This will allow your skin to heal between each treatment.
